چکیده

The mosquito vector Aedes aegypti L., plays an important role in transmission of diseases including dengue, chikungunya and zika fever. In this study, citronella leaf oil extracted by hydro-distillation technique has been evaluated for its efficacy against vector. Citronella (100, 125, 150, 175 200 ppm) when tested, 150 ppm was found to be the effective larvicidal concentration 4th instar larvae. LC50 LC90 toxicity values were observed 107.10 141.59 ppm, respectively. GC-MS analysis indicated presence β-citronellal, geraniol, elemol β-citronellol as major components, which might causing larval mortality. Retention up 84 hr terms killing during retention period, a significant delay development (L4 adult) also observed. No effect storage on even after six months.

Larvicidal potential of Cyathea species against Culex quinquefasciatus

Resistance to insecticides has persuaded researchers to find new methods to control Culex quinquefasciatus proliferation. Plants may be a source of alternative agents for mosquito control due to ever-growing insecticide resistance in mosquito vectors and environmental imbalance caused by synthetic insecticides. The present study was intended to study the larvicidal activity of selected Cyathea ...

Larvicidal efficacy of Vernonia cinerea (L.) (Asteraceae) leaf extracts against the filarial vector Culex quinquefasciatus Say (Diptera: Culicidae)

The larvicidal efficacy of Vernonia cinerea leaf extracts against the common filarial vector, Culex quinquefasciatus was determined. Ground Vernonia cinerea leaves were sequentially extracted with ethyl acetate, chloroform, acetone and methanol. A series of concentrations of the extracts ranging from 0.05 – 2 mg/ml were tested against third instar larvae using WHO protocol and their percentage ...

Larvicidal Efficacy of Temephos against Aedes Aegypti

Three new formulations of temephos (LAVIFOS SG 1%, MOSQ SG 1% and AZAI-SS ZG 1%) were evaluated for larvicidal efficacy against larvae of Aedes aegypti (L.) in waterstorage jars under field-simulated conditions. LAVIFOS SG 1% and MOSQ SG 1% are sand granule formulations, whereas AZAI-SS ZG 1% is zeolite granule formulation. Each formulation contained 1% temephos as an active ingredient. Each fo...
